Meet Your Doula!

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work:

I have been in logistics, administrator and executive assistant work for many years. These roles combine listening to and intuitively anticipating clients' needs. Being a positive, non-anxious presence has been part of my professional experience.

What led you to become a Doula?:

As friends began having babies, I was introduced to a better way to birth -- that birth isn't like the panicked screaming on TV. Birth can be radiant, empowering, powerful and relaxed, especially when adequately supported. I was fascinated by birth and wanted to support women toward a more hopeful way to birth.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Others have told me that being a doula makes so much sense — it fits into my nature of wanting to see people live into their highest, best selves; helping them through transitions; observant, intuitive listening and understanding.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?:

Better Baby Book, The Birth Partner, The Business of Being Born, Happiest Baby on the Block

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?:

New life is miraculous, full of life and beauty. Untold potential!

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?:

Professional, compassionate support that holds calm, positive space for new families to be born in love and joy.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?:

West Wing

What is your favorite place to vacation?:

Yosemite National Park

What is your favorite food?:

Anything ethnic... or tiramisu.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?:

Being outside relaxing, adventuring, swimming or boating.

Who lives in your house?:

My husband Jonathan, our dog Caesar and I love our little house down by the Kentucky River.
